just goes to show ya...fix one thing another pops up...replaced the alt. and battery now the clutch safety switch is bad..located it on the clutch push rod ( looks like a small can type thing with about 6 wires on the connecter..would think it stays in one spot when useing the clutch but it can slide freely along the pushrod...tapped out cash wise from replaceing alt. and battery ( 46 bucks for new switch ) so would like to bypass this switch for now...i know it will allow the truck to start in gear with it bypassed but cant find any info on what wires to jump from the connector anyone know witch 2 wires it may be...thanks
i would also like to know how to do this! mine gives me trouble all the time. don't have the money to replace it either. any suggestions would be great
You should have two red/lightblue wires going to the switch. These two wires are what interlock the starter relay.
Problem is, the other wires have functions too. Some of them go to the cruise control to disengage it if the pedal is pushed, and I think the others go to the computer to tell it the clutch pedal is pushed. I don't quite know why the computer needs to see when the clutch is pushed, but it may be some sort of idle strategy or something.
You can try twisting the two red/lightblue wires together, and it should start, and see what the other stuff affects.
