Talking Mmmm New PSD for me?

Hey all,
I've had a couple different trucks in the last year (both dodges) and both the trucks were compromises on what I wanted, so, of course, I'm not happy (much to the wife's chagrin). Current truck is an 04 Ram reg cab short bed 4x4 w/a hemi. stripped down work truck model. Got it cause it was fricken cheap...now I hate it cause it's fricken cheap!

So my dream truck is a black 4x4 4door diesel. Don't tow anything, don't haul anything (except a little @ss every now and then!), don't really need the interior room of a 4 door...really the truck I have NOW is more than I need...but like I said, I'm not happy. I want what I want and I won't be happy until I get what I want.

Tough call for me between the CTD and the PSD. I actually like the Dodge interior & the dodge styling & pricing a bit more than the PSD, but I still prefer the Ford as an overall package to the Dodge.

So anywho, test drove a 2005 F-250 4X4 PSD CC SB w/FX4, Sport & an auto tonight. I gotta say I really dig on that beast! Super blacky blackity blackness, FX4 interior is tres cool. A bit high MSRP at 45K if'n ya ask me, but what do I know? Only hang up is the trade. Hoping they give me a decent price on it, otherwise it's a no-go.

Any new info on mileage w/these new trucks? I'm getting 11.75 mpg avg w/the Hemi on my commute (50/50 city/hwy, but a good amount of time spent idling), just did a 1200 mile trip with my 450lb bike in the back and could NOT get better than 16.7mpg cruizin steady at 72 mph on the hwy. I think the PSD should be better than this but not by much...????

At any rate, even if I don't get the truck it's been fun reading all the info on here and I wish ya'll the best w/yer trucks. IF'n I DO get the beast, I'll be back much more often!!!

Thanks all,
Nick

try submitting an appication thru www.forddierct.com write down what you want and itll send a fax to ford dealerships within your range then they will fight over you just go with the one that gives you the best price. Sticker was $52,500 on my Excursion and i got it for $46,000 plus a $2,000 rebate = $44,000 out the door good luck

Had my 05 FX4 PSD/auto, 4 door, RED and beautiful for 6 months now and grin every time I drive it! I have always been a ford man but after owning a 04 F150 and being very unhappy I went to the GM and Dodge dealers to check out what they had and I must say the Dodge came in an easy LAST! I drove two different Diesel Quads short bed 4x4's and both had a nasty vibration above 75 MPH on the highway...salesman said it was the tires...what does a penny loafer wearing salesman know? Fact is the drive train in the dodge is noisy! My 05 (and I have gone through the trucks) is without a doubt the best truck I have EVER owned. I know I have only had it 6 months but this one is a keeper, couple of mods here and there and watch the Odometer roll over 100K is my plan! Do your homework...do it right and you will end up in a Ford!

Smack the guy in the head I did the same route by checking out all the competition befroe buying my 05 F350 King ranch DRW 6.0. My mileage is not much better than yours but remember it's a DRW with a 4.10 rear. If you like to smoke the tires I highly recommend the SuperChips Tuner. As far as creature comforts, none of the other competition offer nicer interior package than the Harley or King Ranch. Driving in style! So stop banging your head on a wall and buy the Ford . My sticker was $52K and I was out the door with the X plan and rebates at $43K

Looks are superficial, it's whats under the skin that counts. That's why Ford out sells everyone, period!

OK. I did it.

Spent some time checkin around prices, driving the different trucks. Lucked out that my dealer is a real straight shooter. Champion Ford here in Houston, TX. Had X-plan pricing, so I just dealt with the fleet/internet/credit union/Ford Partner guys.

Like I said in my first post the sticker on the truck I drove was $45k. I was thinking I wanted to go with a Supercab that stickered out at $41k-with less options, or maybe find a CC truck with less options.

Truck I bought tonight is a 2005 F-250 CC XLT Sport (ALL blacked out) 6.0 PSD 4X4 FX4 with something like $2k in extra options-power adjustable pedal thingy, the tow command box, reverse sensing aid...on and on and on...

rebates and discounts got the price down to $37k or so, had a LOT of negative equity that had stacked on from several trades, so out the door was high at $48,500-no cash down. But they're giving me a free spray in bed liner on top of all that...

All in all, they gave me a very good price for my trade-the negative equity was from the 2 previous vehicles...and I feel I got a great deal on a great truck. Wife says I'm not allowed a new one until the year 2030! Crap! I'll be 50 then! ha!

I'm still in total shock & awe here. I can't believe how great this truck is and how lucky I am. Totally fricken amazing vehicle. Only crap part is I still have to finance it....got my fingers crossed that the credit union will come through! My credit is pretty good, but there's always the chance they'll nix it b/c of the negative equity I suppose, although honestly the last truck had a worse loan to value ratio than this truck...

Gosh, have I said yet how much I like this truck? The ride and handling is WORLDS BETTER than my Dodge. TONS WAY MORE GOODER! Gotta get to bed, thanks for the support and advice!!! Pics tomorrow!!!

Congrats and Welcome to FTE Nick. You will not be disappointed with this truck. I've had mine over a year and still get excited to drive it. We take it on vacations when traveling. When the guys are going to lunch, no one ever asks, they just walk to my truck because they all prefer to take it.

Mileage, I have a 6sp, don't tow hardly ever, get about 16-17 with a mix of highway/city driving. If it is all highway I get at least 19, got over 20 once in Colorado. Guess my truck likes the high altitude.

Thanks for the warm welcome and words of advice ya'll!

I gotta say, I love drivin this beast. Glad I went w/the short bed. Long would have been too much w/the CC. I still can't get over how comfy the ride is!!! If any of ya'll are whining about your ride being rough go test drive a Dodge Ram 1500 reg cab short bed 4x4 w/a Hemi...VERY stout ride!!! And shoot, I thought it was pretty good! I could feel every single reflector I drove over!!! New truck just soaks 'em up!!!

Got the financing approved today as well. HUGE sigh of relief. Most banks aren't anxious to finance $3500 OVER MSRP. Got 5.25% for 72 months on a $48,500 loan-just as info for any of ya'll shopin a new loan right now.

Picked up the dash kit to install my stereo that I just ripped outta the Dodgie. Eeek, get to put up the Ford tough truck parking sign my wife bought me a couple years ago when we thought we were buying a Ford truck.

Happy to be back in the light. Crap, trying to think of more errands to run...excited to get to drive to work tomorrow!!!

Anyway, time to go put in the stereo!!! Where do ya'll put subs in these things??? I see no where for it to go!?

Take it easy all...

back to my RIGHTFUL user name.

let your turbo's sing!!!

Hi Nick,

Thought I would ring in, Picked up my New Truck Sat mornning. Varisty Ford in AnnArbor Mi. F-250 4x4CC,PSD Lariet Luxary Package! As of Sunday night there is 210miles on her already. What a great truck. You should see the heads turn. I know its early for this yet, but on a hand calculation I'm getting around 16.5 mpg
mixed driving.

I think thats not bad, considering she got a long way to go to break in yet. I ordered my Truck almost eight weeks ago. I wanted that Job #2 build. Hopefully missing some of the trouble from the early ones.

Good Luck,

Grizz,
Just checked my window sticker (it's still online) and it says
-JOB #2 BUILD IDENTIFIER

So that's pretty cool!

Only thing I can't figure out is, online XLT sport package says it come with a
-Chrome Exhaust Tip
And my truck didn't. The dealerships lost the floormats, but said thay are getting me some. The sticker for my truck didn't list the Chrome Exhaust Tip so I think I'm outta luck on that one. I guess I could try calling Ford and ask 'em if it is supposed to some with it or not...

Just dropped the truck off for the spray in bedliner. Yahoo!!! It'll be lookin pretty sweet tonight when I pick it up!

later,
Whistle

EDIT:Called Ford and they said my truck was supposed to come with ta chrome exhaust tip, by my VIN #, so guess I gotta hit the dealer up for some more stuff!!!

Wonder how they overlooked that one. I thought the XLT Sport Package had the chrome exhaust. As enticing as it might be to spend the night in your truck, try to make the wife happy and sleep inside my friend.
