Hi there,
hope someone can shed some light on the issue I have.
I got 6.0 psd, 2004 excursion.
The problem I'm having is very often the engine is kind of spidering. Sometimes when I'm pushing accelerator it doen't do anything like the fueld doesn't get into the engine. Sometimes even during the free run the car is stumbling.
Dealer had check the engine and their saying everything is OK and it's very difficult to show it because it doesn't happen all the time.
I don't know if it's due to fuel or something else.
Any ideas/suggestions are very appredciated.
Thx

That reference was really helpfull. I just got my toy back from service.
EGR valve was stuck and full of carbon.
They changed EGR valve and EBP sensor....running cool now.
Just kind of surprised why valve was full of carbon...cheap diesel fuel?
Thx!
My EGR was replaced at 35,000 miles because of the surging idle problem (the one where you are sitting at an idle in the drive-thru for a long time and the idle starts fluctuating). They said it was full of carbon. It was fine for a short while. Now at 40,000 miles it is doing it again. I am thinking about just disconnecting it.
benefits are a cleaner system. it's been said that the PCM goes into default and you lose some boost, but I could never tell that. I could however tell a small gain in fuel mileage and the cleaner engine is a benefit in itself. My stealership tech (a real diesel tech) told me that giving it a good hammerdown occassionally won't hurt it either. A fuel additive like Stanadyne helps and is also goooooooood cheap injector insurance.
fuel additive....does it really helps...or it's just mirage feeling?
did u test your fuel/mileage with the same driving style, same driving path?
I'm diletant with engines, I mean I know how it works but do not have any practical/real field experience and I like my 6.0 psd (ready to sleep and listen that diesel engine sound) and would like to keep it as long as I can...there are bunch of all those additives out there and not sure which one would be the best for this engine?
Thx!

Powerservice gray bottle is really good, but Walmart quit carrying it. Ford recommends Stanadyne which is really the best. I run Powerservice in the 6 cetane boost level and get about 1.5 to 2 more MPG, plus it's cheap injector insurance. I'm waiting for more results of the biodiesel/EGR combination to see how that works. I know the biodiesel is more MPG's, but wondering it's affect on the EGR
Anyone know how to clean the EGR?
I once remember a guy saying he would spray carb cleaner to dissolve carbon every 2 weeks or something but i can't find it in a search and i'm not even sure where to spray.
