Thanks for the advice. I don't have any ties with this dealership so I'll probably refinance right away. I think if the dealership wanted their kickback from FMCC they would have given me a better finance rate from FMCC. They gave me a whopping 8.75 rate!!! Even though my credit score was 782!!! They knew I was planning on refinancing after 90 days. I imagine they get more of a kickback if they give out a higher finance rate. So, I'll play hardball and refinance right away. The way I see it, its what they get for stickin me with a high rate and making it sound like that's as low as FMCC would go.

Since FMCC and GMAC aren't really FICO buyers, there might be something else to that interest rate (FICO's part of it, but they don't live and die by it like banks do- both use propietary models to evaluate credit). In any event, if you can get a better rate knock yourself out.

As for the $300 fee for getting the vehicle, I'll try to have them split it with me as I noted above it's 4 hours away. The FMCC contract I have already signed has 1 error on it anyway. Nothing major, they listed my trade as a 2004 and it's a 2000. So, I imagine they'll have to amend the contract (if that can be done). That's when I can talk to them about the $300. I don't think they'll be able to create a new contract as the $1000 FMCC rebate was only good through today. That

First off, until delivery is consumated there is no contract- error-free or otherwise. "De-horsing" and contracting is a good way to stop serial shoppers in their tracks, though. Let us know how you do.

It has been said but is worth repeating. You have NO commitment until you leave the lot with the new truck. Whatever they have had you sign is to try to hold their ground with the money they have made while you were excited. You can rewrite any or all of the deal. Don't feel obligated because you are stuck because you already signed the contract!

Thanks for the advice guys, I won't feel like I've breached some kind of contract if they won't at least cover half of the $300 pickup fee and also ensure I get the $500 X-Plan rebate they were not aware of.

If all goes as planned I should have my new truck tomorrow night. I'll let you guys know.

This will be my first Ford, my first Truck and my first vehicle with a V-8. I am pretty excited.

Well, They are sending someone in the morning to get the truck and bring it back tomorrow night....

I asked my Salesman AGAIN about the X-Plan $500 rebate and he said he still could not find it. I went the dealership after work and made him show me where it wasn't listed in Smart Vincint... He asked his manager and his manager said that he didn't look up the vehicle under the X-Plan section... He tried to look it up and it showed nothing because the vehicle was listed as SOLD (to me I assume). Another Salesman helped him and they looked up another VIN for a similar Truck and THERE IT WAS!!! $500 rebate for X-Plan purchases on F150 and Ranger, Program Number 9562!!!!

I tell you what, this kinda scares me. It your Salesman is incompetent then you could potentially lose out on a rebate money!! My Salesman is new (2 months). If it was not for Jeff and PolarBear (who noted it here in these forums) I would have missed out on $500!!! Thank Jeff and PB, you guys ROCK...

The funny thing is that the other Salesman said since the deal had already been done, and was in the system, that I would just get a $500 check from Ford in the mail for the rebate I missed. I was like HELL NO. I told them I wanted the $500 taken off of the Sales price so I wouldn't be financing the extra $500.

So they are going to write up a new contract tomorrow when I take delivery. At that time I am going to offer to split the $300 pickup fee for the vehicle). If they don't want to do that I'm not sure what I'll do.

Forrest

Wow- ever the excitement! We run a smartvincent or vehicle incentive inquiry on every car deal and keep it filed. Comes in handy if there's a dispute with Ford or GM later (did it or didn't it qualify). I don't know if I'd credit the salesperson as being incompetant- that's his manager's job to double check rebates/incentives/terms of sale.

Kudos to Jeff for finding the extra $500- this isn't being offered in our region, so I wouldn't have been looking for it.

PolarBear,

I am just curious. Is there anything in it for the dealership if they do not tell you about a rebate you qualify for?

I a mean I saw a whole host of rebates listed on the Vincint etc. that they never asked me ahout (are you a member of etc. etc. etc.). I checked them myself to be sure while they were not in the cubicle.

I really do think this dealership was trying to setup my deal as a non X-Plan deal. They knew I was X-Plan qualified because they asked me where I worked. However, we haven't been over any X-Plan documentation yet and they haven't asked me for my PIN# yet. This might explain why they may have been playing dumb on the X-Plan rebate. Because they knew if they did the deal as X-Plan that I would be entitled to the rebate.

Is there a reason why a dealership would prefer not to set a deal up as X-Plan, but still give the X-Plan price as listed on the invoice? I am curious.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it...

It should be the other way around. We dealers get a commission for reporting/ handling an X-Plan sale (regardless of what price we sell it for), so why would we prefer to do it the other way? It makes no sense. That PIN has a value to the dealer, so I don't know why they'd do it that way. Chalk it up to incompetence.

Other than lost deals, annoyed customers, and the general aura of idiocy that follows you around?

Jeff nailed it.

hmmm.. ya makes sense.......

only thing is, around here EVERYONE is X-Plan..... =)

i live in a area and work for a company that has a homeoffice of 20,000 plus employees... so i naturally assumed they would prefer non X-planners who they might be able to take advantage of.....course a smart dealership would welcome this large crowd and make money doing volume... ehh.. who knows....

i'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow night...

i sure do appreciate all the help and insight though.....just might have to purchase my next truck from one of your dealerships....

ok, i get to the dealership..... the truck is there, being washed.....

i sit down with the finance dude and I tell him i am only willing to split the $300 pickup fee.. he brings the sales manager in and she doesn't budge...... so i agree to the $300.....whatever, i wanted the truck and i wasn't going to let that kill the deal....

so they pull the truck around...it looks great on the outside... everythings cool... i open the door.... look in.... BENCH SEATS!!!!! CONSOLE SHIFTER!!!!!

i told my salesman i wanted captains chairs with the floor shifter....... i reviewed the invoice beforehand but i don't read invoices everyday so i believed him.. i didn't know that the capt's charis are specifically listed on the invoice... they were not listed on my invoice......

sales manager calls my sales manager at home (his day off) and he says "Yes" it has captains chairs... she says WRONG.... it has bench..... ooops. i think he's in trouble....

she goes out and find another truck just the way i want it but it has Leather instead of cloth..... it's $1000 more for leather... i ask her if she can help me with the cost... she says no... that she doens't have enough to work with me on it... but says that she won't charge me the $300 for pickup on this vehicle.....so i am getting the same truck but with captains chairs and leather for about $700 more...it will be here at Noon tomorrow....

ugh......will this ever end?

Jeff, PolarBear,

Um, I have the invoice for the F150 noted above..... and the X-Plan price is above invoice? How can this be? It's $181 above invoice if you add the 850 dest. charge to the price.... Is the dest. charge figured into the invoice price officially?
