Part beside Coil
There is a little cylinder bolted to the coil. It's about 1 3/8" long by 5/8" diameter with one wire coming out and plugging to one of the three wires that are near the coil, the other two go to the coil. What is this little cylinder for because the wire is starting to corrode and maybe I should replace it.

A CONDENSOR, but in actuality it is a capacitor.
It was added to all cars and trucks inductive ignition system to reduce noise on the electrical system. If you have a bad one then the radio will while in tune with the engine rpm. If you are worried about it, i'm sure it is less than $5 at Autozone.
