Question Oil burning.......

I have 1983 F-100 with a rebuilt 302. I use the truck as a daily driver, and to do some towing ( mardi gras floats and generators). When I first start it in the morning or when it idles for awhile, I can see white smoke coming from the exaust, mainly on the drivers side(it has duel flowmaster exaust, not cat back). What could this be? It needs oil about once every two weeks with driving I currently do. Should i be woried or is this just a Ford thing? it also like to idle rough in traffic, then smooth out and run fine what does that sound like? i want to keep this vehicle for a long time,so any tips are appreciated! you check out its pics on the 1983 galleries titled The Blue Angel. Thanks in advance!!

Also working on a 1969 F-250 more questions will follow........
