how much lift?

I am going to lift my truck this weekend. I have 315/75r16 BFG 's AT ko's on 16 x 10 Rims due here shortly. I have a 2004 f-350 sc 4x4 with snow plow prep package ( x springs). I was planning to put 3" on front and rear. According to many sites 3" lift is minimum for this size tires. Agree or disagree?
Just asking to be sure before I install the lift.

I would go 4" for mostly street, 6" for off-roading.

Since you plow you may want to stay shorter so you don't have to mess with custom fabricating plow brackets.

With 3" you may have to shim your front bumper forward. It might be close though.
