My dad is going to take delivery of his f350 tomorrow and as you could guess it has the dreaded conti tr's. When asking the salesman to refund the $250 for the ordered A/T's he would absolutely not do it. All he would say is the A/T's don't exist then 5 mins later he said that the tr's are considered the A/T tread pattern...what a load of crap he's trying to put over on us. What should be done in order to get the refund? Any help would be appreciated!
This is simple- it's either on the window sticker and invoice or it's not. Tires aren't identified by brand- nor can you order them that way. They're either all-season or all-terrain, and it'll be identified on the MSRP. If the incorrect tires is on the truck (vs. what the MSRP says), it becomes a warranty claim, not a refund.
What ever brand tire Ford is using at the time, is the tire you'll get. My 04 came with Pirellis, BFG's came with the 4x4 off road option.
If your not happy with the tires that came on the truck the dealer will usually substitute with tire of your choice, as long as you pay for it, and the truck hasn't been driven off the lot. They take your tires (take offs) in trade, and charge you the difference. Cheaper to just buy a new set of tires IMHO.
My dealer gave me the cost of the tires because he wanted a good score on his report card. I did order my truck and I ordered something I did not get. The Contis are All Season mud and snow tires and I ordered an All Terrain tire. If you buy off the lot you may have more trouble. Good luck and sometimes you have to stop being a gentleman
when you deal with a Stealer.
I threw a fit when I got home the night I bought my 05 SD. It was dark when she (truck) showed up so I didn't get a good look at the tires before driving off the lot. After doing alot of complaining, I accepted to take the loss and chock it up to a lesson learned.
The traction in snow (the reason I need aggressive tread) had much to be desired. I got stuck in my driveway at home, when running late for work. I must admit though that they have proven to be a durable highway tire. If rotated regularly, they seem to wear well and haven't given me any problems on the road where handling is concerned.
I will replace them after they wear out with some tires of my choosing, and hopefully, there will be a better choice of brands and lower prices for an eighteen inch tire.
Live and learn, don't take anything for granted, and never assume. I will look very closely in the future before I sign above any dotted lines, but these tires are acceptable to me anymore, as it isn't worth the $250 to remain aggrivated.
Good Luck finding satisfaction, Tim

Did you order the truck with specific tires? I don't think so, you wouldn't like the cost of a specially ordered truck, not to be confused with ordering a truck normally from the factory.
Whatever brand of tires the manufacturer uses, is what you get, period!
If you feel the truck should come with Michelins, I'm sure you can special order these tires from the factory, hence another complaint, they want how much!
the specific brand of tire doesn't matter but it is just frustrating that there is only 1 tire available in that size. We found out it doesn't matter if you order A/T or A/S, you still get the same tire even if you pay the extra $250. And thanks for all the replies so far.
Right- kinda/sorta. It sounds like the tire ordered was the TMB All-Terrain Tires. They do have a more aggressive tread pattern than the std. TJB All-Season Tires, but may not fit what a lot of folks would view as an on-off road tire. That's what God made the aftermarket for, I'm afraid.
The option code for an upgraded tire on the 2005 F250/F350 18" is listed as All Terrain (AT). The delivered truck window sticker says All Terrain spelled out in English.
The 18" option is a Continental ContioTrac TR M&S (mud and snow) tire not All Terrain. Continental does not make an 18" All Terrain.
Ford has refunded a lot of us the $250 for the OPTION that we did not receive.
This applies to owners who ordered the truck....
When you buy off the lot, you do get the truck, as it is configured at time of sale.. Before the money changes hands is when you need to negotiate the sticker vs. installed components.
Edited by Admin..if Ford charged for something they never delivered. That definately is a horse of a different color, sorry if I sounded indifferent.I'm sure their's a few lawyers out there amongst us, come on you know who you are!
Step forward, and give a helping hand, of course if asked to testify I'll have to deny everything.

Reason: Remove "Class action lawsuit"
When you order the FX4 pkg , you must pay extra for A/T tires. This is the way that orders are set up in Canada . I did order my so called A/T in black sidewalls because the Conti name is nothing I wanted to highlight in OWL. Mine are fine pavement tires but I buy a 4x4 for snow so as soon as I find a good replacement tire in an A/T stlye with the same weight carrying rating as my Contis I wll do a purchase. When I was in the market for a truck a couple of years ago, I found several trucks on dealers lots that the sticker vs the actual truck equipment varied. One f350 4x4 I looked at had f250 tires on the cheaper rims and the hitch missing, but the towing plug was there. As for my truck, I have a very late 02( last day or 2 of production) and my truck has the fx4 package (shocks and skid plates)but it isnt on the sticker, and was unavailable till 03. also there is a rear sway bar on the truck, but it appears as unavailable on the order forms(std cab 4x4 f350 v10 with snow plow pkg). Needless to say I didnt complain about the "free" stuff. bill
I went through the same thing as tpalm5 just four weeks ago. I tried to get the $250 back from the dealer. They first told me the same thing as them, these tires are listed as all terrain. But, I kept on pushing they were just a upgraded all season. They even looked it up on the Continental web site and the service mgr. came over to talk to me with the continental print out. There was nothing on there stating it was a all terrain just a mud and snow. So my salesman talked to the area Ford rep and for that option I ordered the conti's were the Ford spec for the all terrain. Before going to the dealer I went to the tire guy I have been using for years and the base tire was $154 and the conti TR was $159. A lousy $5 per tire. I finally went talked to the sales mgr and he told me since I got the truck for $8500 under msrp he could not help me with the $250. I did not agree with that BS so after talking a while and telling him I wanted the number for the area Ford rep, I finally got him to give me the missing rear wheel linings and the rubber mud shields for the front to make up the difference and to make me happy. They are also going to put them on for me, not like they are hard to install, it is just the point. I also found out from the dealer that the option for the 06' all terrain is a Goodyear 285 65 18 all terrain. I would not of got my wheel linings if it was not for this great website.
No, it's a 275/70- but there's always something. In '06, the "something" is you can't get the Camper or Snow Plow Pkg with those tires. I did notice Ford is identifying tire brand on each size choice, so they know it's an issue.
