Cat. back system for my E350

My van will need a exhaust soon. I looked into a banks system but they don't have anything. Gleason makes one but its for a 97. I have a 01 E350 15 passenger with a V10. Iwould like it to be 3" exhaust. Has anybody bought a system or did you have a custom system made? I don't want to put a stock system back on

I had a shop do mine, I'm not crazy about the prefab one for all, but I'm not positive about the bending of 3", many shops cant do it, I had mine run dual 2 1/4" with the 3x20" tips.

Maples01 the factory exhaust has a outside dia. of 3" the inside dia. is 2 7/8" so I don't want to go any smaller. Did you duals from the engine back and what engine do you have?

I have the 5.4, but you could go with 2 1/5" dual from the muffler back, that's better than one 3". I was told you loose a little bottom end if you have true dual from the engine back, loose some important back pressure. You have only one 3", so going behind the cat and splitting it into two 2 1/2" pipes will flow far more than replacing with another 3" and will sound awesome.
I've really been looking into the removal of my pre cats and putting a free flow in place of the stock rear cat's, but I'll keep my single from the cat to the muffler.
My van is also a 15 passenger, and my cat backed Flow master 40 dual kicked out at a 45 degree angle out the rear, you can hear it rumbling inside, so if you don't want to hear it, better go with a quiet muffler. Your stock setup has what looks like two mufflers, one is a resonator the rear one is the muffler, makes the vehicle quiet, mine looked new when I bought the van, but I had it immediately hacked out before bringing it home.

My V10 doesn't have a resonator the convertor bolts to the Y pipe. Good idea about running dual tail pipes at 2 1/2"s. Something to think about. I'll stop at a shop by work that does custom exhaust. The V10 isn't going to give me the rumble that a V8 gives. Have youheard the flowmaster 50 or 70 series? I heard that they are quiter than the 40. Not sure If I want it real loud. If all the flowmasters are loud what other will give good flow with a little rumble.

The 50 series isn't loud, the 40's are the loudest, I've always added the 40 series, I put a Magnaflow on a 5.2 Magnum Dakota once also, it wasn't as loud as the Flowmasters, but somewhat loud. Turbo mufflers are cheap and have a nice mellow tone, got a set on out 78 4x4 and it's not too overwhelming.
I love the look of dual exhaust much more than the single setup, it balances out the ascetics better. The ext van looks so good with a chrome tip out each side of the rear, wish I had gone with stainless steel tips though, chrome finish doesn't last.

The red crap is gone, removed it all, you can see the exhaust in the rear. The size of the tips deepend the tone of the exhaust, I hope to replace mine in the future with longer stainless steel ones, should look better.
