My best time with these items
60ft 2.2 15.5 @86.37mph
NewCam mustang Ho roller cam 210 210 .444 .444
Edelbrock truck intake
I installed the cam straight up dot to dot.
Now my best time 2.4 60FT 15.7 @ 87.5 mph!!!!!!!!!!!
My top end is great pulls hard from 3K up to 5500
but below 2500 its adog! I would hit it at the track and it seemed like i was barely moving as soon as it hit 3k it would wake up! MY off idle torque sucks compared to the the flat cam but with the ho cam I can be going 25 mph in first nail it and goes side ways big time and pulls very hard but from a dead stop nope! OK but i dont think its all the cam my truck is now running like crap also below 2500. It idles real bad, in the moring when its cold it barley wants to stay on and once its warmed up I can almost smell raw gas. If I diconnect the meter its smooths out the idle and everything. I dont think I have a bad meter becouse it was running just fine before i took it all apart.
Here is the other wierd thing. It does not ping at all. before i changed anything I had the timming at 14deg and if i used anything but premium it would ping. I have the same timming and reg and it does not ping at all. I tried a different computer but it does the same thing. I must have a vacume leak somewhere but i cant find it. ANY IDEAS ANYONE PLEASE HELP!
With the bigger cam I bet you have a lower DCR, so that might be why you don't ping now. This loss of compression also effects you low end. The crankshaft rotation in degrees related to the intake valve closing ( wich determines the DCR from mechanical compression) can also reduce the actual CI the engine see's. If that makes sense.
