Pivot bushing replacement

I'm getting ready to replace the pivot bushings on my 87. I have a haynes shop manual but there is no r&r instructions. Is it a pressed fit? Do I need to remove the whole arm and press it out? Or can it be removed more easily?

Thanks for any help

The bushings are press fit into place. The easiest way to get them out is to use a hammer, or a special c-clamp. They usually come out pretty easy. I had my whole front end out when i did mine. Make sure you have the truck supported by a lift or jack stands. You will need to take off at least the sway bar, and springs and shocks, then you will have no problem. Just support the axle when you take the shocks and springs off, so as not to break a brake line.

I did this job... time consuming to say the least... You will need to remove the brake calibers as well.. I tied them up under the fender so they were out of the way...

I used a Ball-joint press to install the joints... I would have a Air hammer handy to help get the old ones out....
