Sounds like electrical components to me......perhaps wires or distributor cap?

Hopefully one of the guys will come along with more info!

Use search There have been posts on here about corrosion at the big connector on the firewall and windsheid leakage down onto the computor (Drivers side I think). I'm sorry I dont know all the details but I remember reading them.
Good luck

I agree. Sounds high-voltage.

check your cap for that nasty white chunky stuff & carbon trails.

Been there....

My '96 was the same way. It hit 100'000 kilomteres so I did a tune-up (plugs, wire, cap, rotor, pcv valve) and haven't had the problem since.

Hell, my '96 F150 is doing the same thing. Seems to do it on the rear tank only. It is in the shop right now. If they find something I will let you know.

I've heard that sometimes the winshield will leak down into the cab and hit the computer in the drivers kick panel. Try taking the panel off and seeing the that area is wet the next time it rains. The ground for the computer is in there too and water might be screwing that up too.
Keep us posted!

Well, The dealer would rather me bring it in when it is acting up so they can get a better picture of what it is doing. So, no answer. I think it is my rear fuel pump anyhow. It is doing the same thing my contour did. Buck, miss and studder. It was leaning out intermittently and took a while to catch it.

Greetings,

Check out the seal around your processor (under the master cylinder, 60 pin harness connector). I was having some severe electrical problems and found that the seal was only held on with one nut, and water was getting into the processor through this seal (or lack of seal). Between that and the corrosion on my 60 pin harness connector pins, I was going nuts trying to find my problem.

Hope this helps.

Had this problem in my '88' ,my father inlaw ask if the distributer cap was ford or after market(napa, pep boys etc.)said after market.Told me to go dealer and get a cap it might take care of the problem.I laughed, but gave it a try and wouldn't you know problem gone. The truck only liked oem cap,Don't ask why but it did fix the problem. It was like it fit better and didn't let the moisture in. I still have the truck with 230,000+ miles.
