Is anyone else have problems with there paint. I have an '04 F-150, had it for a year now, its starting to rust under the fenders, on the side of the box and both bumpers have rust starting. Also the paint at the front of the box, near the cab has chipped off. I can't say that I am happy,is it just me or did i just get a bum truck?
I bought my truck in Oct/Nov of 2003 when there was a lot of gravel on the road so I picked up some chips on my painted bumper. They rusted almost immediately. I haven't seen rust anywhere else including in the chips on my hood. I think these trucks are warranteed against rust for 36k miles. Dont quote me on that though.
No...you are not the only one having problems with that. I have an 04 STX and bought it last November and the tailgate, rear bumper, doors, and under the tail lights are rusting. I know darn well Ford wont fix it.

Well we need to know more of your situation. Do you live near the ocean do you back a boat trailer into the ocean regularly, do you live in an area where salting the roads in winter months is regular?
I to live in BC just bought a screw only has 900 km (540 miles) so no rust yet :-) actually I love this truck except milage. No vibrations at any speed just a great fx4 screw however my opinion could change down the road.
I don't live near the ocean and its not humid here. I had a 1999 F-150 and drove it in the same area, and when i traded it in it was rust free. I am not too sure what is going on. I talked to ford last week and they wouldn't touch it beacause I have 27,000km on the truck and rust protection runs out after 20,000k. I am going home this weekend and going to talk to the dealership i bought the truck at, I think they will atleast go to bat for me with for, they are usually good like that.

What about salty roads in winter? Just trying to rule it out.
They use some new stuff, Its liquid calcium. It does turn the truck white, but they say it doesn't affect the vehicle. My friend bought his truck a few months before mine and needed to have his truck re-painted after about 4 months of owning it. Iam sure this is not an isolated problem my brother in-law just got a new truck from Dodge last week because the paint was pealing off of his 2004. So i know its not just ford.
