I just compaired the 2004 reg cab 2x4 f-150 with the 4.6 to the same truck in 2005, the 2005 weighs 70lbs less???? Am I going crazy or........??????

Not neccessarily. I do know that they don't use as much sound deadening in the 05 as the 04. A money thing.
Also, make sure every option is exactly the same. Tire size can make a difference. P compared to LT tires make a difference. Limited slip compared to open diff will make a difference.

What kingfish51 said. Look at the rims/tire size first. Then the option package. The sound deading is not supposed to have been changed on the reg cab. But that doesn't mean it wasn't.

Also, that sounds about right for the jump between the 8.8 and the big rear.

Every year goes through cost reductions. Heard they took some components/brackets off of the frame in 05.
