Lots of talk, but I haven't seen one yet. There really isn't much room for one under the hood, and there are already too many belts flopping around as it is.
Are we talking about an IDI motor with a GMC 6-71 or 8-71 blower setup? If I were to try it I would grab a late 6.9 block and look for some forged pistons that could be milled on top to lower compression. I guess that you would want to o-ring the head but then again I'm not sure that you couldnt get by on just the gasket, it may just be an "every 5 thousand mile" routine. Jeez, Im halfway through the first rebuild and Im already thinking about the next one....How about a serpentine setup with a blower through the hood of an F350. Would it have to go to direct injection though?
with the idi you could fab a blower intake from a stock set-up,other than running the fuel lines a bit different and changing from the cdr to a rdt.i agree about the belt issue. have to rethink that one a bit.as for space, who would,'t want a big polished 6-71 sticking thru the hood.if the boost levels are no more than a turbo would lower comp/o-ringed heads be nesassary??clacking and blower whine, yehaa!
I was thinging like a vortech set up earlier but the companies I talked to said no way could I get the boost I wanted at a low rpm so I don't know what to tell ya..
may be if you had a really big pully on it it would work as long as the belt dont slip your good to go >>>>------------->
if you could make it fit at least you wouldn't have any problem running bigger exaust pipes since you wouldn't have to squeeze them between the engine and firewall.
I thought about a centrifugal, but you still have only top-end. Then I just ponied up and bought an ats setup on ebay for less than $600. I'll get it freshened up someday and put it on.
the 6-71 for a six-cyl,and the 8 -71 is for an 8 cyl. you probably want to check the out put for each, and the rpm restriction if any. they both run at 2100 max rpm on the detroits good luck Phil
