460 bogs under load
I have a 79 f-150 4x4 with a 460
It runs good in park, as soon as you put it in gear if you floor it it bogs before taking off, won't break them loose if you try to brake tourque, going 55mph if you let off the gas and then slowly press down it bogs. timing is at 12 degree's atdc. has a brand new holley 600 4 barrel. ran good for awhile with the new carb but still didn't have what i think it should
any help would be appreciated

What the engine does in neutral or pack don't mean nothing. First I hope you timing is set at 12 degrees BTDC not ATDC. If you are After TDC that a big part of your problem. Sometimes carbs need some fine ajustment, like changing the accelerator pump cam or adjusting the stroke, adjust the float levels, adjust mixture screws, changing the vacuum secondary spring and even adjusting the choke. But first make sure your timing is Before Top Dead Center (BTDC) and not after.

I agree that it sounds like timing too, make sure the vacuum line going to the distributor does not have vacuum at idle, if it does it will throw everything off, it needs to go to a port on the carb that does not have any vaccum untill you give it a little throttle/gas.......then set the 12 deg Before TDC
