Transmission Fluid

I am getting ready to change the fluid in my 2000, 2wd, excursion. I have been told by one Ford dealer to use Mercon V, two other Ford dealers say to use Mercon III, does anyone know whjat I should use ?

Use MERCON. There is no such thing as MERCON III, and your owner's manual says that MERCON V can damage your transmission.

Does anyone know what the OEM fluid is (synthetic or dino)?

My owner's manual says it's semi-synthetic and should not be replaced unless you have a leak somewhere.

I have an 02 Limited V10, BTW.

The OEM MERCON fluid is dino. The OEM MERCON V is a synthetic blend.

I haven't checked the manual, but this does not sound right.
