i am doing the t/c mod right now and am trying to follow the instructions by this site http://www.forgotton.net/mods/tclock/index.htm
, i am all #$%^$# up, on the site it says under the master brake cylinder there are four connectors, one black and three grey, well i have three black and two grey. i found some wires that are purple with yellow tracers, but none seem to be on the #6 pin. then i tried to check out pin 4 on the transmission plug, and broke the !@#$%^& connector clip, and i have no idea which is #4 cause there aint no numbers on the connector. i am getting p!ssed off, can anyone help me i have an 02 F-350
which gray connector do i use, the one closest to the front bumper or the one closest to the cabs firewall? please help me, please.
one more thing can i change the connector going to the tranny, cause the little tab that holds it in place broke and i fear that it will shake loose and fall off
i have one more quick question to add, i bought a toggle switch that is illuminated, will that have any affect on the t/c being grounded? the reason i ask is because the t/c wire has to be grounded, but the toggle switch needs power, and there is only one ground coming out of the switch.
It should be pin #4 that the purple w/yellow tracer wire comes from on the tranny plug. Try to follow that up to the front of the cab (not the easiest thing to do, that's the way I did it though) and then splice into the wire there. There should be only one purple w/ylw tracer wire coming out of the plug, and that will be pin #4. I think I looked it up in my Haynes(or Chilton) service manual and it showed the layout of the pins on the plug, I remember seeing it somewhere and am guessing that's where I saw it.
Sounds like you'll have to do something to keep that plug on the tranny in, either get a new plug and pull out the old one and rewire it, or get some tape and tape it to the plug on the tranny, for a temporary fix. Talk to a local mechanic, or the dealer if you trust them, they will proly try to get you to come in and let them do the work, which you may have to do, I don't know.
Regarding your switch, having it powered shouldn't affect the grounding affect of the switch. The power supply to the switch will also use the same ground as what you are trying to use for the TC lockup. I had a similar switch that would illuminate when turned on, and I tried to see if I could get it to turn on like the LED is suppose to in the description (when the TC is locked up) but I couldn't get it to work.
