Just this past weekend a friend mentioned that he has one of the Gibbon kits. He aquired it in a trade, but has no plans to use it. I am sure it could be bought reasonably. If anyone has interest, let me know. I'm located in Tulsa Ok.
What is he selling it for? I'm pretty sure if it is a good deal, people will jump on the opportunity.
I finally finished my installation and I'm very pleased so far. I finally got the torsion bars mounted and welded in place to the rear cross-member, so next its just mounting the 302 over it. I had to buy some shims to get it aligned properly for the upper control arm. I forgot to do that.
I know its been awhile on this thread, but if any one out there has this set up i can use some help, its going into a 61 uni shortbed.
I picked up the gibbons ifs with almost all the parts needed for the conversion for a great price. i do not know which donor car was used. the instructions name a bunch besides the cordova...
the problem i am having is that i did not get the rear cross member with the kit and the strut rod brackets were hacked.
so if anybody out there is still reading this thread ... i could use dimensions of the three pieces that make up the rear cross member, plus hole locations, and the same for the strut brackets
also if you can copy your instructions they might be newer than mine(or more complete)mine I believe are from 91..
besides that, how do you like your ifs since it has been awhile. insights and suggestions would also be great
I've never ridden in one, but am convinced it is a good method. Stronger than my Volare IFS in my opinion. I would have probably chosen the Gibbons but was forced to correct a Volalare hack job my truck came with.
