Need flathead headers - all the same?

I've got a '53 Effie with a Mercury 255 flathead in it (8CM?). I'm looking for a set of inexpensive (used OK) headers for dual exhausts. I've been told that all Ford (Mercury) flathead V8 engines will take the same headers. This doesn't sound right given the long production run and other differences in flatheads.

Will headers off a 30's coupe with a flathead V8 fit a '53 truck?

Most are the same, but the V8-60 will probably be different. And like the Red's Headers ad has, they have some options too. If you get the econo tube headers, they're around $120 new. They're decent, but have no exhaust pipe flange on the end so I welded some on myself. However, personal experience talking here, if you do get the econo tube headers, check them close before installing. Mine I found out the holes were not large enough where the middle and rear pipes were welded to the collection tube, restricting flow. It took a lot of work but I got them enlarged now so it can breath better. I think the restriction contributed to my block cracking on the center exhaust seats.

I have Red's nickel plated headers for my '53 F-100 and they really look excellent. They fit great and are designed to clear the steering etc. I bought the whole exhaust (except the tail pipes-too long for parcel post) system from Red's and have all SS bolts, hangers etc. Any plated exhaust parts MUST BE CLEAN BEFORE you run them or finger prints etc. are almost impossible to remove.Cheers.

Reds is the ONLY place to shop. All his patterns are designed vehicle specific and they DO fit.
