Didn't drive my truck much this last winter and the carpet got damp and mold or mildew got started in parts of the rug. It's the thick padded type and the mold seems to keep coming back in a week or so after a surface cleaning with Lysol Spray and regular carpet spot cleaner.
Anyone know of a product that I can saturate it with to kill this stuff?
I really don't want to have to pull the rug out and replace it if there's another way.
Thanks for any help
You probably should take out the carpet and hang it out to dry throughly. You may find that the cab floor may need some attention also. Mold can be a health hazzard, especially if you have any allergies. Or just get another carpet. I dont think there is any way out. Mold is a fungus that's hard to kill. Good luck

Ben, you are absolutely 100% correct. Deep down as I was writing my post I think I knew what has to be done but you know how human nature is, always try to take the easy way out.
I found a on-line store to get factory fit molded carpet for $129.00, so I have a new one on the way.
I will rinse out and sterilize the floor pan real good before installing the new rug.
Thanks for the reply
To clean your floor after you remove your carpet, use a solution of household bleach mixed with hot water at about 3-4 parts water to 1 part bleach. Get it good and wet for about 15 minutes, then rinse it with clean water and get a fan on it to dry it out.
Technically, this would only be "sanitization". "Sterilization" is a whole 'nuther animal...
One problem you may find is that your vehicle is full of mold spores now, so you need to deal with the "mold triangle": food, moisture, warmth. Those are the things that mold needs to establish itself. Spores are in the air everywhere, but because you've had active mold in there, they're in a much higher concentration now inside your vehicle, and are probably on every surface and in every bit of fabric.
