Trip was great. I loaded a page to my web site this morning but for some reason I can't view it. I was going to post a thread called "What's this?". Could someone check and see if they can view my web site at www.mappyjack.com Then click on the "What's This" link under Utah pic's. Thanks.

Showed a friend from Wichita the old missle test site and Crystal Geyser outside Green River.

Meet up with everyone at a Place called Smith's Cabin NW of Green River Utah. When Butch Cassidy pull off a robbery he had horses staged for his get away. One of the outlaws split off and headed for Browns Hole and passed by this cabin. Butch went on South to Robbers Roost.

1st day we took a short cut to I-70 and went up on the San Rafeal Swell and drove to a place for a hike down to see some Pictoglifs (sp). Then we headed sout for the Copper Globe mine. Had to rescue Ford van on the way. Caveman decided he really didn't want to go see the Copper Globe mine and lead us up a side trail. Went back to Green River to eat and then back out to the foot of the San Rafeal Reef to camp.

2nd day we explored to the south of I-70 and up against the bottom of the Reef. Found another hike for Caveman to do sometime. Went down and took Temple Mountian road north to find the top of the hike we found below. Back to Green River to eat again and out to Crystall Geyser to camp.

3rd day took the Crystall Geyser short cut to Moab. Moab is just 45 minutes by high way. The short cut takes 3+ hours. Had lunch in Moab. Outlaw and Caveman left to find a pictoglif (sp) of an Owl and head back to Denver. Us KS guys went south to Blanding then west over comb ridge and south on 261 over the Mokee Dugway and though the Valley of the Gods. Then east to the west side of Comb Ridge west of Bluff. We went south to San Juan Hill. I started mapping the Morman Trial (Hole-In-The-Rock) backwards. The wash bottom had a lot of water in it so we headed on back out and camped north of the highway that night.

4th day we took Sand Flats rd. (the HITR trail) west. Just east of 261 the rd. forks and the Morman trail goes NW and Sand Flats heads SW. It is several miles farther to go Sand Flats road to the Ranger Station on 261 than it is to take the Mornan trail to the same place. We split up and I told my friend if I didn't show up with in an hour of his arrival at the rangers station to send out a rescue party. Funny how those short cuts take some much longer. He had been at the Rangers station almost exactlly and hour when I pulled in. My truck was a bunck lighter. That trail tuned into an ATV narrow path and I lost a bunch more paint from the side of "Mule" That afternoon we went west and I mapped out more of the Mornan Trail. Then over to Halls Crossing to camp for the night.

5th day more mapping. Went mapped the trail to the intersection of Halls Crossing rd. and over toa location where there was once a sand dam. Then on back to Clay Hills pass. Just west of there are some more cliff dwellings. The mormans found an oven in these dwellings and used it to bake bread. That afternoon we headed north on 95 to Hanksville. That took us by the "Happy Jack" mine. Then went NW of Hanksville near Factory Butte to camp for the night.

6th day went through the Factory Butte area and back to Hanksville to top off with gas before heading up up on Robbers Roost. Went by Robbers Roost spring and mapped that all out. Camped just outside Canyon Lands near Hans Flats Ranger station.

7th day we drove through Canyon Lands to the east side of Horse Shoe Canyon. At a mine on BLM land just east of the Canyon is where I found the pic's for the "Whats' this" page. Then back out the way wen went in and we took the "short cut" to Green River. Thats where we parted. I went on to Rifle CO to camp for the night and my friend went back to Hanksville.

8th day I drove back to Denver and picked up gear for a shoot the next day and checked into a room.

9th day I attended the shoot and back to the room to rest up for the trip home.

Great trip. As soon as I get time I'll post more pic's.

Wow Jack that sounds like one heck of a great trip. Sure would like to do something like that some day when I can get enough vacation. I tried the link but it I couldn't even get to your site. The gaurdian here at work blocked me from getting to the internet.

How did the shoot go?

It was cold and overcast in Denver sunday. So cold my hands didn't want to work. They have 100+ shooters each month so they shoot 7 smaller stages so they can have 7 posses. Most shoots I go to they have 6 stages and just 2 or 3 posses or groups of shooters. It was the 4th or 5th stage before I was able to shoot a stage clean. Once I did though I shot the rest of the match clean. Not bad for a real black powder shooter. Most times it works the other way. As the black powder fouling builds up the guns seem to loose accuracy.

Did you get the spider gears welded up yet?

Have them over in the shop waiting for my fabricator to do the job. He's gonna have to work on Joe's too, we found the drivers side bucket in pretty bad need of repair. Will be working on my motor this week. Tony took the 88 off my hands (after I stripped what I wanted off it) and is going to use it for going to Tuttle and playing around. Looks like something got started with all this. LOL We may have a few more ready to go to the trails before long.

Great! Now if I can just get some Fords out to Utah and Colorado.

Just found out my domain name had expired. So sometime in the next 24 hours my site will be back up.

Let me know when you want to go to Tuttle and map out trails. I'm getting pretty good at it. No hurry though. Sounds like we both have enough stuff going on through the summer.

And forgot to say about my shooting that my alias or handle over there is "Slow" Jack. With my bad leg and other stuff I move really "slow" these days and I'm used to being out shot by women, children and older folks.

Was the 88 auto or std.? I have an extra A4LD and rear driveshaft to go with it.

It was an automatic. Tony may be contacting you about the side window also.
I am ready to go about anytime, the play truck isn't done but I can use the 02 to do some mapping and such. Hope to have the 84 ready in a week maybe 2.

I think Clint is taking "Mule" to KS Rocks this weekend for the clean up. It threw codes again so we need to get in touch with Duane and see if he has the full program on his puter yet. The base program said I think it was the left back was at max adjustment. So when I push it hard it must run out of adjustment. It's about 1/2 unloaded. Finished up the laundry. Have a brisket slow cooking in the oven. Have my empties in the polisher getting bright so they can be seen and picked up at the next shoot. Did a so so cleaning on my irons before I left. Just need to hit them one last time to make sure I didn't miss any thing and put a heavy grease on them for storage. Might be a few months before I get them out again. May wait till tomorrow for that. Need to get to the CU and put some money back in. It's now or never. I wonder how I ever did anything when I had to work for a living. "Mule" wanted to head west when we left Denver. If it weren't for the $7K in shootin gear in the back that wouldn't like the bouncing and dirt I don't think I would have made back.

Outlaw has four trips from Canada To Mexico this year. Right now he has a bunch signed up for July. My friend from Wichita is signed up for June. So if he gets some more going in June I'll go as tail gunner then. But I for sure need to go run the back door in July. Then I have a Colorado trip in August. And I'd like to get back to Utah in the fall. And then if that isn't enough to eat up all my spare cash I have two pairs of pistols that could use work. Oh and then there is "Jr."

I'd much rather be back in Utah setting around a campfire sipping on burbon and smoking on a cigar. Time for a break. Might just have to get the bottle and a book of matches and hit the bench on the front porch.

I saw Tony's thread and I'll post on it.

Thank ya kindly for the kind words. Lockers are nice. I hope to get up to the top of Iron Chest and Holy Cross this year. If not though it'll be just like other years, something I save for next year.

Turned cold out there. Decide to take a nap instead of setting on the front porch.
