F2 vs integera

well as my truck is on its last few steps ive been talking about it alot at work, there are a few other car guys here that are wanting to take me out the the local drag strip to see how well i will do against there cars. right now it looks like i will be up against a 98 camara z28, 91 5.0 mustang, and a 97 acura integra!! now this guy with the integera seems to be pretty determand to beat me, and personal i dont want to waste my time, but he keeps on pressing me so i might do it just to shut him up... i'll be sure to post times just for your guys amusment

I'm not sure who presented the idea that pickup trucks make good racing machines. I am pretty sure that the basic design of a truck is the antithesis of good drag racing fodder unless highly modified. Loads of torque and horsepower (however you want it arranged) can be had in the engine/driveline configuration. Applying it to the rear wheels seems to be a bit of a sticking point... or not sticking as the case usually is.

How do you keep the rear wheels from turning into quickly disappearing borradors? (erasers) I'd be delighted to see some quick timing slips and whupping up on Camaros and Hondas, but, realistically I am not that optimistic. I've given up on betting on car races... lost way too much. Racing is just great fun, however, so give those guys all they can handle.

Keep it in your lane, himmelberg

i have to agree.. trucks arnt the best. partly due to the fact there is no weight in the back. so right now i have a 32 gallon fuel cell, battery, and air suspension tank, vavles, and compressor mounted close as i can to get it over the rear axle. also switching to a 4 link rear and a 400 spitting out 500hp (est) doesnt hurt either!

Hey, at the worst you can haul a lot more beverages, ice, BBQ, etc. - for after the race, of course!

yeah, and there's an old-school idea called traction bars. They keep the rear end from hopping around and you losing traction. They're also called weight transfer bars. These could help with the hooking up of the 400.

Depending on the pivot locations of the 4 link it can add or subtract weight transfer to the rear. You can somewhat offset the poor weight distrbution with large rear tires, VERY large rear tires (slicks) hope you put in big tubs. Depending on what's been done to that integra (a type R by any chance?) he could put the smack down on yah.

i knew that it does matter when the pivot point, but on the plus i have a flat bed so i can put very large slicks (already have some on) and i know he has a vtec... but still weight to power ratio i have him beat... but we'll have to see those timeslips!

If you really want to shut him up, offer to race him on foot. His Integra vs. your feet over exactly 100 ft. This will work, as long as you're under about forty and have reasonable fleetness of foot. It won't likely work at 105 ft.
Try it out first.
