What is the code for the rear axle ?

Not with the info you posted.
I need the rear code to help determine the front code.
The front axle ratio has to closely match the rear axle ratio.
ie: Rear 4.11:1 = Front ratio 4.10:1
These ratios were only available in certain diff make-up.
ie: 9".... dana 60...dana 70
btw, you don't need to use the quote in a 2 way conversation

Axle code 24 is a Dana 60, 5300 lb, 4.10:1 ratio with an open differential. J indicates power steering.
The 'A' transmission indicates a New Process, 4 spd manual transmission.

The front is probably a Dana 40 with a 4.11:1 Ratio

ok i never even heard of a dana 40 but ok ill trust you, im really shooked we cant narrow it down instantly with the codes and tag numbers iv found
So im assuming its the lighter duty front end but will it stand up to me hunting with it???

didnt they use gear ratios up front just a tad bit higher Ie. faster so the front end pulls instead of got pushed??? so would there be a 409:1 ratio in the front???

Yes, that is possible.
Probelm is ,I can't find an application for that axle in the book.... for that year.

ok well ill get all the info you guys need tommorow, im probly gonna buy the truck.
either way is the dana 40 or 44 strong enough for just your average outdoorsman who doesnt really plan on running huge tires or driving it hard???
