I have the black square type grill and it needs some TLC...
I was thinking that I could paint it glossy black (enamel) and then take foam and cut it a tad oversize of the grill squares, stuff it in the holes and then paint the front of the grill Chrome. Remove the square foam from the holes and I should have a pretty nifty looking grill with chrome accent?? Thoughts??
Should look cool! May I recommend Krylon FUSION paint for the gloss black. It works great!
I cannto attest to the quality of any chrome paint. I would say that it will have to be real tough to be able to withstand the punishment that the leading edge of those "fins" take.
