What's Your Worst Ticket?
I live in 2 areas, one without speed limits, the other with speed limits if that gives you a hint.
I do have a couple of stories to tell though about friends.
1. A friend was on a quite country road, no traffic at all, and decided to see "what she will do". "She" was a turbocharged 1400cc Hayabusa...
212mph in a 60mph zone.
Made the national TV news. Lost liscence for 36 months, US$2500 fine, 120hrs community service.
Would have been sent to jail, but he successfully argued that that is wasn't "unsafe" - still don't how that worked out.
2. Another friend who works for an automotive manufacuter you all know pretty well
was driving a development car.Using said development car, he was towing his 4000lb boat in a 65mph zone at 125mph...
Manage to convince the highway patrol that he was doing highspeed development work on this prototype vehicle(despite the fact he had the vehicle over the weekend, and had just finished going waterskiing with his friends), and he noticed that the road was empty, and...
Got off scot free (although had to give the officer a thorough tour of the new vehicle).
My first was 42 iin a 25, a $75 ticket and $25 for court supervision (doesn't get reported to the secretary of state and does not go on your record, you promise to remian a good boy for 6 months and then all is forgotten) You can go on that once every 12 months.
3 months after that ticket I got a 67 in a 55. Same county, never heard a thing and only one showed on my record. Strange yes, but oh well. Oh yeah, $75 for that one.
Several years went by (3 or so) and got a 41 in a 30, right at the speed limit sign. The county reduced charges, cost me $50 for ticket and $25 for court supervision.
Two months later got a ticket for improper lane usage, basically it was more related to I told the cop he was a little ******* P***K and he didn't like that much. Another $75 to the local treasusry.
Few years went by, wham, 66 in a 55. $75 and $25 for court supervision. Oh yeah, when you go on court supervision you get to go to this "class" where you watch a video on traffic crashes. It must have worked on me because I have had two accidents in my life, one kinda didn't count though cause the bridge was covered in ice and another truck swirved and spun and long story.
Clear for a while again, then BAM. I get a new truck, it's all pretty and everything, 68 in a 55. Another $75 and the state's attorney ws generous and granted me court supervision without fees. He should have, I am his brother in law.
Guess what, three months and one day later (the day after I went off court supervision, I got another ticket, 61 in a 45. Again at the speed limit sign.
Lets just say I have probably made a squad car payment or two.
