I'm pretty sure a performance exhaust is going to be my next modification as I've seen some interesting posting on this board, but before I plunk down my $300, I wanted to get a bit more feed back. What have you folks experienced with such systems? I'm thinking about a Gibson 3". Is it also worthwhile to install a performance cat at the same time? What do these run? I'm interested in knowing what I might reasonably expect with this addition. I have 1,500lb camper on my truck and would like some more power for hills, and, of course, any mpg gains would be a blessing! Any input would be great. Thanks.
I added a Flowmaster Custom made exhaust system to my 1/2 ton.
Total work cost me $235.00
The shop I went to uses the two chamber flowmaster either with either one or two exits.
I chose the two exit version, and had them make up dual exit tailpipes in 2 1/2 inch pipe and added the 24" 3 1/2 inch diamter tips. It's definetley got more power, & I believe more torque.
The Flowmaster also adds a deeper more authoratative tone to it as well.
I guess it just depends on how much you want to spend.
i put a flowmaster system that i got from summit on my 94 f-150, and noticed a boost in power immediately. it is a single exhaust system that uses a three chamber flowmaster "big-block" muffler and is three inch diameter from the cat back. i believe the cost was about $220. hope this helps.
