Brake Fluid Leak?

My brake fluid is leaking somewhere. On the rear axle there is a "something" where a couple metal brake lines go into and a hose or 2, I can't remember. What is this? I looked in the chilton manual and I cannot find anything in there about it. I was thinking a proportioning valve of some sort, but when i goto the parts store to buy a new one, I want to get the right part. It is soaking in cleaner right now and I will wire brush it later this week to see exactly what it looks like.

The rubber hose or one of the two steel lines may be leaking near the junction block. Unless someone stripped the threads inside the junction block. ...Terry

The truck is a 1977 f150 2wd with a 360 and a 4-spd

I guess I will have to clean it up real good and see exactly where it is leaking from, but i may just replace the junction block to be safe, thanks guys

Are you sure it is brake fluid? Is the level in your master cylinder going down? I would make sure it is brake fluid and not a pinion seal or something throwing grease, oil, etc.

That block is a T fitting that splits brake fluid between each rear wheel. You'll see two rubber lines and two steel lines. One rubber line goes up front to a steel line that goes to the master, and the two steel lines go to each wheel. The other rubber line is a differential breather. It's about two feet long, and just gets tied up inside the frame.

Clean it off and inspect it while the brakes are being applied. Preferably with the rear end up on jack stands.
