cam phaser issue spot---thanks
I read in an earlier thread about cam phaser issues and the resulting noise. I thought my truck (05 supercrew lariat 5.4, 800 miles) had some odd "tapping" noises. I took it to the dealership and told them it could be the cam phaser. They called later with the comment "thats just the way they sound" I told them that after that kind of cash I wanted them to check again. 3 hours later another call, he said he had 4 techs looking at it and it was.... the cam phaser. He then ask how did I know that. I smuggly answered that I read a lot (I should have answered that even a blind mouse finds a crumb once in a while). Thanks FTE members for the help. I rather be lucky than good anyday.
He told me the part won't be availible till May 2 but that no damage would come by driving it this way. Is that true?

I remember that other thread. I had mine replaced last week and it seems better now,so the replacement kit is available now.A copy of the service bulletin was in the other thread. I was like you.I had all the info from here before i went to the dealer and actually was 1 step ahead of them
