73-79 HD Cooling componenets

1977 F250 Ranger XLT Camper Special 2WD, 460 Eng, C6, A/C, C/C, PS, PB, big front brakes, D60 4:10 rear, front and rear stabilizer(sway) bars.

My truck came from the factory(or dealer) with the HD Cooling option among others. I am the third owner and I love this truck!

I have the big 4-core radiator(it looks huge!), an auxillary A/C radiator in front of the 4-core rad, and a power steering fluid cooler(looks like a mini BBQ grille mounted vertically).

I have 4 questions:

Did Ford use a special waterpump with the HD Cooling option?

Did all Ford trucks come with that plastic air scoop mounted in the engine bay behind the rad support with tubing going to the air cleaner or was that an HD Cooling option as well?

My plastic piece is squared off rectangular where the tubing from the air cleaner is supposed to hook on, it is the only one I have ever seen in 7 years of wrecking yard scrounging, all others are round, is this a HD Cooling piece?

What temperature was the stock thermostat for HD Cooling option? I think I have a 180 in there now.

I want to take good care of my truck and learn more about it, thanks

That cold air plastic piece is standard on all trucks to draw in cool air from the front of the core support area.
It should have come with a 195 thermostat from the factory.

Standard part, many people tear them off because they don't know any better.

195°F stat, use a Cooper-Robertshaw stat that is correct for the application.

I should have said I have a transmission cooler in front of the 4-core as well.

Thanks for the thermostat info guys.

Any thoughts on FORD using a special waterpump for this option as well?

AFAIK it is a standard water pump.

I saw both the transmission and PS coolers on several trucks. I can't tell you how rare they were tho.
