I have a fresh 1968 460 Lincoln engine in my 74 F250 4x4. Stock dished pistons but closed chambered heads and low deck block with a fairly respectable cam. I currently have a stock motorcraft 4bbl sitting on the manifold and it doesn't seem to be giving up quite the performance I had expected. It seems to be undercarburated. I am looking at Edlebrock replacement carbs for a little more CFM but don't want to overcarburate.
What is a good CFM to start with. I have been told 750 but think that is too big. I was thinking more in the line of a 600 and "jet up" to where she wants to be. Would you all think taking a 750 and jetting down would be a better route? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm kinda learning as I go here.
Thanks, Tim
Thanks guys, for the replies. Now here's another question. I live at about 5700 feet in elevation. Will that affect the choice or do you think the 750 is still the right choice? Sorry, I was off line during your replies, I am at work so it is hit and miss at breaks when I get computer time. Thanks again.
