I have 400ci engine and I want to convert from carb to EFI. I was told that EFI gives you more power than carbs do.Is this true. And will I have to do a lot of work to do this.
I don't even think that Ford made a 400 or close to in EFI, did they?, if they did, you could possibly use the fuel and ignition system from that and convert it over. Work wise, you have your work cutout, your not asking us to help build a street rod here, are you?, LOL, it can be done with patients with the Holley setup I do believe, and yes, you will notice more power, driveability is also much nicer, just think, no more choke to deal with, yea.... I am currently working on gathering info for my same project. I am tired of the carb problems offroad. I am going with EFI. Going to pull everything from a EFI 460 with mass air and use 24 lb injectors. Just machine the intake for the injectors. Yes it can be done.

You could always go propane...1/3 the price of an efi kit and no more offroad problems. That's what i'm doing to my cj and f-150. -WIll
Why not drive it onroad? You could do a dual fuel conversion and switch over to propane once you get offroad. ALso, i'm putting a 60gal propane tank in the back of the f-150..should get me to wherever I need to go.
