Engine shut down

I have a 86 302 EFI AOD. It will idle fine but won't drive. The whole thing seems to shut down when it is time to shift. The only way to drive it is with the gas pedal to the floor. It will still loose ALL power but, will keep going if you let off and then back to full gas. It will also stay running if you shift to neutral. My mechanic has replaced the fuel pump and about 10 switches, valves, ect... then gave up. I slipped the exhaust out of the cat, still broke, then replaced the computer, Still broke. Please help.

Engine shut down

Its hard to say for sure w/o seeing the truck ,but it sounds like you have a transmission problem rather than an engine problem ? Have the trans looked at .

Engine shut down

There is a tech bulletin from ford about a fuel relay wiring problem. Follow the wire that comes off the relay, and goes into the harness, apparently there is corrosion on the conector that will cause a stall or no start. If you would like a copy faxed contact me at our phone located on our web page
