Unhappy 2.5 leveling kit uninstall

I have the skyjacker 2.5 {manufactured by daystar}on my 04screw.I'm unhappy with the ride and the front is too high when I haul or tow anything.Since this is a 2 piece kit I was thinking of removing the top spacer which I think is an inch making the lift 1.5 over stock.MY ? is has anyone ever done this?Is it ok to use only one of the spacers?Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. Lifting the rear is not an option the
truck barely clear's my garage door
now.

I do not know about removing the lift, however I do have a question for you.I have an 04 SCab 4x4 and was thinking about lifting front to level out truck.I am wondering how your lift effected your ride?I would/will not lift mine if the ride is effected in any way.Thank You for your help!

Ruckus the 2.5 kit definately affected the ride, I think 1.5 of lift would be plenty. If you're on a smooth road it's ok but if you hit some pothole's or rough seam's in the road it beat's the hell out of you.It also makes it squat in the rear too easy when I tow my 8x16 enclosed trailer, which I drag around at least twice a week full of dirt bikes.

evl, Thanks for the info. I think I will leave mine as is.I just wanted bigger tires. If I wanted a rough ride I would have bought a SD.The smooth ride is why I did not buy another F250.Thanks Again and Good Luck!

I am glad I read this now! I was going to install the leveling kit within the next few weeks. I dont tow alot and I do alot of driving....which are Michigan roads and not the best roads for all that know. So, I will leave mine the way it is unless the 1.5 has a better ride. If someone does the 1.5 definately post here so we know whats up!

I wanted the leveling kit for the look's and for bigger tire's,I think it sit's too low in the front stock.I put 285-70-17's on it,I put the leveling kit on before the bigger tire's so they're not the cause of the rough ride they actually improved it a little over the stock tire's.I don't know if they actually make a 1.5 kit.I've heard that the top spacer on the 2.5 kit is a 1 inch spacer so I was thinking about trying this.

Hey evl . I know that i have seen some ppl talkin on here about doing exactly what u are talking about doing just can't remeber who but u might be able to call the company that made your lift and explain your situation and see if they say that would be a option like everyone else i to have been looking to level my 04 screw 2wd out just can't decide if i should lower the rear or raise the front

Ruckus,

I'm not trying to hi-jack this thread, but you might also want to consider the 2.5" autospring. I've had mine on for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. The only thing affected on the "ride" is the new height.

If I was in your shoes, I would uninstall the kit you have now and sell it on Ebay.

Then, pick up a EZ Lift 2inch lift and install that. It's an easier install and is made of machined aluminum.

Got it on mine and it rocks.

The reason I was considering lifting my front end was because of all the positive feedback from this site.I do not remember reading about anyone ready to uninstall or rough ride concerns? The EZ Lift 2in. was the one I was considering buying.I am a little confused at this point.Autospring, EZ Lift or probably search for more info?I am going to be sure of what is best before I purchase. It seems like almost every aftermarket item I have installed could/should have been different/better than my decision. Thanks for the feedback.

Ruckus,

I know how you feel about the "which one do I get"decision's.I picked the wrong set of nerf bar's that's for sure, they look great but are no good as a step. Now it look's like I did it again with the leveling kit.Someday I'll learn.LOL

Yep, I wish I had the money back for all the wrong aftermarket stuff I bought and could start over. How old do you have to be before you stop making costly mistakes?Looking forward to hearing from who243.Anyway, Good Luck and Have Fun!
