Too lean in both banks? Sounds like a fuel flow issue... fuel pump, fuel filter, plugged fuel line, etc. You might also post your question over on flatratetech.
Hey Ben, and Welcome, tvsjr is on the right track. However, if you are not having a driveability problem, i would look at the intake air management system and sensors. depending on the year and engine you have, you may have an air flow sensor out of range causing your light, the wire can be cleaned after it is COMPLETLY cooled with a non residual carb or brake cleaner. Very common for the manufacture i work for. Also you dont say if your intake system is modified, some modifications may relocate the sensor out of the "calibrated center" of the air flow and therefor no longer give an accurate reading of the air being pulled in to the engine. Good Luck, R.
Check for a vacuum leak especially in the pcv hose. If none is found try cleaning the element on the mass air flow sensor with electrical spray cleaner and some compressed air. A dirty or faulty MAF sensor will set lean codes on both banks at the same time.
Hi benbrown56 what year is your truck. slc10844 is on the right track. Can you monitor pids with the scanner you used to get your codes. If you can check your baro pid.If you tell me what part of the state you are in i can tell you the spec.I am a ford tech and i see more problems with vac leaks and and sensors. Not saying you don't have a fuel problem.Checking fuel pressure under load will tell you if you have a fuel pressure and supply problem.do you have a v8 or v10.If you get me the year and engine size i can tell you some common problems.
the truck has a 5.4 gas it belongs to a friend of mine i repair farm and construction equipment and try to stay away fom trucks but you know how that works when one of your coustmers come in andd say hay look at my truck. were going to try the fuel filter first as it never been changed then well see how it works.
i know this thread is old but, what did you find out? 03 f250 5.4 truck is sluggish when you step on it p0171, p0174, p0325 i changed fuel filter, problem first showed up when i was low on fuel, after filter change i put 15 gallons in and truck ran better. two weeks later the truck started doing it again, replaced mass air sensor with no luck, any help would be great thanks
