Cruise control on my '95 2.3L has not been working for about two years now. When I first got it, the brake light switch was bad, so I replaced it and the cruise worked for a while then stopped. I have been fooling around with it and today I pulled the wiring harness out of the servo. Ever seen green oil run out of a cruise servo? That's what happened. (it was not antifreeze)
I cleaned everything, and couldn't get anymore green oil out of the servo. All the oil seemed to be coming out of the wiring harness plug instead of actual servo. I disassembled the servo, and everything looked normal to me. Any ideas?
I have heard of some test where you hold the cruise switch down, and the SPEED CONTROL light blinks and tells you what is wrong with it. Anyone have the specifics on it?
I have searched the forums, and I am going to try some of their suggestions tonight.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
This may sound off the wall but it might be the wiring harness for your hitch setup is shorting out. Unplug it from the trucks harness and see if it corrects the problem. I had the same problem and this resolved it.
