Is it true you can get bad gas in that it makes your rig run badly till you get a good batch? My truck every once in awhile starts running rough and the clutch jutters and powersteering is hard to turn. I've been told that it used to be we had high octane to run on but now we don't. So is bad gas my problem?
Wow, you have a bunch of issues. With all the symptoms, I'm not sure of the real issue. Bad gas can make it run rough, idle rough, loss power. Having the clutch chatter and power steering being hard to turn are weird symptoms.
Power steering problems lead me to loose belt and low on fluid. A loose belt will cause the pump to NOT turn enough rpm to enable it to provide pressure, plus low fluid will cause the same issue. Granted if motor is running rough enough, it will be turning lower rpms, which will create problems, but only at idle speed.
I always run 89 oct fuel in my stock '67 352. The cheap stuff is really bad on it and I won't run it at all. My motor has 140K miles on it to boot, nothing ever rebuilt!
Do you get gas at the same place everytime?? Do you have any options?
