Front Diff Cover Removal?

Hello Guy's, I am changing out the fluids in my 01 F350. I went to change the front diff fluid, tried to remove the cover by removing the bolts and popping the cover off with a putty knife, and it would not budge. The back one popped off no problem. In ALLDATA it says to suck out old fluid and replace. Is this what most you guys are doing, just suck out the fluid and no cover removal?
Thanks for the help!

If it has a cover, best to remove the cover. When I was looking at used trucks, all S/D's 2000-2003 with less than 35k I saw many with rtv spooged out the front covers, swore up and down at more than a few salesmen that that truck had had front diff. problems, my mistake, at some point depending on where it was put together ford used rtv to seal the front covers. Best guess, water immersion? any way use a thin blade screwdriver or very small pry bar, gently tap between cover and housing and keep working it around from starting point, it will come off. clean everything, ck gears, new gasket, rtv both sides, tighten bolts then wait at least 4 hrs. before refilling. I'ts worked well over the years for me
