Dual Tanks Not Working
It has the tank selector in the dash panel and a tank selector valve on the floor on the driver's side. The stock system is for dual tanks but the original owner had it rigged with three tanks who later took the third off so it is now back to two. The other day, with no gas in the rear tank, when I was checking to see if they both worked, I was running the truck in park and I switched the dash panel selector to rear and the valve to rear. The fuel gauge went to empty but the truck kept running. I gave the throttle a little pressure and ran it for about 20 minutes to make sure there wasn't a little gas left over in the tank. But the truck never died. I checked the selector value underneath and thought that the setup looked funny. The main tank's fuel line wasn't hooked up to the valve selector but the rear tanks line was hooked up to it. Another hose was hooked up to the two other valves on the selector so it made a continous loop. So my question is how to hook up these hoses to make this setup work. So the selector valve is for three tanks and has four hook ups, one pointing down in the middle, one to the front of the truck, one to the back, and one to the left. The port pointing down is connected to the rear tank. The one poing towards the front of the truck and the one pointing the left are connected together with a hose and the one pointing to the rear is open. Another question is what the function of the dash selector is? Does it just select the fuel guages in the tanks or does it also activate the different pumps? I hope you guys can understand what I'm trying to say and help me out. Thanks for your time.
