My truck has had a minor miss at idle for a while, usually only when it's cold, and it would come out of it in a few seconds of running, but, since I installed the header, it is there at idle all the time, I was able to make it intermittent by richening the mixture, but that's all I can do to it, I am suspicious of my distributor, as it smooths out if you rev it up some, or if it's pulling, and if it was the carb leaning it out, it should get worse as I revved the truck up, which it doesn't. It could also be valves, but it isn't that likley. Anyone have any ideas?

Is it a miss that you hear out of the tail pipe or tailpipes ? Or is just that you notice the motor kinda shakes a 'lil bit ? Just a sake doesn't really mean it is actually missing.......but if you can hear it out the exhuast, then you may have something goin' wrong.

Before I installed the header, it would be an audible miss for a few seconds after startup, then it would go away, and there would be a small shake in the engine, now, it's audible all the time, and the engine shakes the same as it always did. It is missing on # 1. I had a TFI-IV system on this engine before I put it in this truck, and I had it on this truck for a brief stint, and with that system, it didn't have this problem.

I had the same type of thing... spend 50 bucks and replace all the plugs/wires/distributer cap, rotor and clean your carb with some carb/choke spray. then, drive your truck for 10 minutes normaly, and last, on your way home, run your truck at a higher RPM's to clear your carb. keep it in 2nd or something

FUTURE PLANS: New rims, fix a/c,
Well, saturday, I replaced the plugs, wires, distributer, rotor, cap, duraspark box, and fuel pump(I knew I was smelling gas off the oil...) I re-timed and adjusted the valves, changed the carb, and ran some carb cleaner through it, to no avail, it misses from idle up to ~1000 rpm, from there up to 4200(where I shut 'er down) it stays clear, but, the paint has yet to burn off the #1 primary tube. With the TFI-IV ignition, this engine did not have this problem. I'm not scared to rev this sucker out, it'll hit 80 at 4000 in 3rd, but it cruises at 60 at 1950.....
