I just bought a 96 PSD 4x4 a couple weeks ago. It ran great till i parked it one night, and it didn't want to start the next morning. It finally caught, one cylinder at a time after cranking a while, but had no power even when it was good and hot.
i changed all the filters, and still no good. now it doesent start at all, even after a new mechanical fuel pump. (saw fuel puddle under Turbo) Injector pump?

This (all of a sudden doesn't run right anymore) symptom points me in the direction of the CPS. Especially when you stated that it didn't run right even when hot.
The puddle of fuel is probably a leaking fuel filter canister. Check the o-ring on the lid, and make sure the lid is on right and is tight without breaking it. Hope this helps.
thanks, we trailered it to my uncles garage so he could scan it. would this tell me if the CPS is bad? is that hard to change? (cant be as bad as that ffuel pump...) thanks again, i'll keep ya posted
You may or may not have a code. I would think that the PCM would have seen something by now though. The CPS is about a 30 minute job in most cases. One bolt holds it in place;if memory serves me correctly.
When you changed the fuel filter......did you check it for any discoloration. Was it blue or black? If the filter is discolored....it usually means that the injector o-rings are leaking. Just something to keep in mind on the diesels.
