i have a 87 f 150, it has the 3:55 gear, my question is whether its an open or closed rear and whats the difference, is it stated on the tag, or on the door jam. thanks, excuse the ignorance
You have to look at the door tag and if the axle code has a letter and a number then it's a limited slip set up. If the axle code is just numbers then it's an open.
It also says it on the axle tag as well. If its still there that is. On the tag it would read 3.55 among all of the other numbers. If it had a limited slip it would say 3L55.
