If you are looking for just sound without performance, just do a muffler swap. If you want some performance gains for towing or hauling, then go for a new stem to stern system. I have the Banks headers and really like them. They are disigned very well without any crazy bends and all tubes are equal length. The headers will definatley deepen the sound of the V10. Not to a V8 Deppen but alot deeper that a stock V10.
Give us some info about your truck. Most importantly the year of your V10. In the years prior to the 05's the system had many restrictive elements to it. The 05's are very well designed with alot of the crazy restrictios worked out.
I want to get exhaust will it sound good, and will it be effective without headers.
what headers do you recomend, and what will the truck sound like with both installed
thanks for your time

just headers won't help much, if at all unless you spend some time getting the kinks out of the rest of the system, especially the Y pipe and the factory muffler. But even then, it won't be like dropping a set of headers on a 69 Mach-1, the technology nowadays is too good. Now if you can port the heads, add larger fuel injectors, increase the flow on the intake, etc, etc, the headers will be able to show some big performance gains. If you just want headers, get some, they are cool, I've always loved the subtle tones that headers can give, not counting the exhaust note. Banks are great, but big spendy, you could buy a new set of other headers every couple of years and still come out ahead.
