has anybody come up with reliable replacement for fuel pump and float in ford trucks?
i have two f150's with bad floats and my efi i6 has pproblems with pump in front tank !!
any ideas ? thanks
hotrod, in my 88and 85, the fuel gauge never read correctly. the 88 has dual tanks and i get a 'twitchy" reading on front tank when it is about a third empty( based on what it takes to fill it) . the rear tank always is pinned to full. i also have intermittet problems with front fuel pump. it cuts off once in a while.
the 85 just has a bad float, and reads about 1/4 tank more full than it is when it gets below 1/2 fullor so.
Well, you can replace just the float. I do know that. The sender may have to either be a Ford Item or a Salvage yard find. I had to purchase a new one for my truck two new ones actually. The first new one turned out to read Backwards!
Turned out after a part number search by a friend at a dealership, it was for a Ford Taurus! (Last time I buy parts from that retail Parts house again!) I didn't buy that one from the dealership.
The Ford unit I had to buy, cost me around $170.00 I know that sounds a litle bit high but...
I would have rather had the correct one from ford than have one thats not even for my truck.
