95 powerstroke adding intercooler?

Hello, i am new to this forum and have some questions on the possible upgrades to a 95 powerstroke engines...

i am very knowlegeble in turbo performance on gas engines, but i know that means poop if i want to work on a diesel... but i am thinking of buying one because i will be towing a trailer and products with a total wieght in excess of 15,000lbs up steep hills (parleys canyon in park city) and want the engine to last as well as perform well.

so i have thought about getting a high flow exhaust as well as intake, but that will not get me real power, especially if i am building a lot of heat going up hills, i thought that maybe i could get an intercooler off of a newer powerstroke... but when doing this on a gas engine i would usually up the boost level and GET MORE FUEL to the engine... i dont know how to get some serious reliable power out of these engines. so any help would be great.

thanks
Danny

Adding an intercooler to a diesel doesn't increase power as much as keep the intake temperatures under control. When you increase the power output of a diesel, you do it by adding more fuel, which creates heat, which can necessitate an intercooler. The easy/quick/cheap way to add fuel is to install a chip which will optimize your current injectors. Power at that level wouldn't require an intercooler. To take power to the next level, you'd need to install aftermarket injectors, which dramatically increase the power output, but virtually always generate enough heat to make an intercooler necessary.
