Well I was worried about letting them removed and fit it because it seemed nothing was wrong and they found nothing wrong but still did the recall work
Now I am without my truck because the repaied Trans that never had a spot of oil is leaking. They tell me they are looking for a "crack in the case" because some have cracked.......Oh boy! I sure don't get a happy feeling about this
Well they called and said they found the leak and fixed it. I assume with the little time that passed it was just a loose line or something like that. I will find out and post after I pick it up and find out for sure
Had exactly the same problem. Took my truck in for the recall with 600 miles on it. Pulled into my driveway after the work, and later had trans fluid on the ground. The truck leaked all weekend and went back to Ford this morning. they found a loose hose and also think it might be grease they used on the torque converter. Just to be sure, they added dye to the trans fluid and are going to run it a little. I told them keep it until it gets fixed right. I'm betting it's either the front seal or the pump seal, but I'm not a tech. "What do I know"
"they found a loose hose " that is what they say mine was too........ Without being rude or getting loud I let them know that I was not happy about them not fixing it corectly the first time and checking it corectly when they got done....They did run the heck out of it they burt 1/4 tank of fuel so maybe they checked it over good
Yeah. I talked to the service dept this morning about the so-called GEL on the converter. I guess it was more than that, because it's 5 hrs later and I still haven't heard anything from them. i'm still betting on the seal. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Dealer called me to pick up my truck. Talking to the service rep, it turns out that the tech who did the recall didn't do a very good job of cleaning the tranny after the repair. They removed the bell housing, cleaned it and added dye to the fluid. After putting 30 miles on it, they again removed the bell housing and no fluid leak. The service rep admitted that when they first removed the housing, it was a real mess.
Another job well done by a Ford Tech.
So far after 100 miles, no more leaks........
