Ok i had the problem on my 88 f-150 4x4 w/ a 302 where you start it and it ran great for about 15 sec then it dies. well i changed the fuel pump fuel filter fuel pressure regulator and some air fuel sensor by the throttle body (that i cant remember what it was called) and cleaned the throttle body and injectors. That fixed it for about a week and its doing it again now. I cleaned the throttle body and injectors again and ran a fuel pressure test on it and everything checked out ok. I hate to put in the shop but if i have to i will. Any ideas would be appreciated before she goes to the shop this thing is driving me crazy.
I'm puzzles as to why you won't pull the codes. It's easy, free and takes about 10 minutes. If you have already done this, why don't you post what you found and someone will help?

I agree, computers control everything, if not a lot. its electronically fuel injected, if something is electronically screwing up, the computer would know. or should know.

i have the same truck as you and i have had the same problem you describe - twice - first time it was the " TFI" module on the side of the distributor ..
about a year later - it was the pick up -inside the distributor .... both cases had same symptoms
