Can anybody tell me how difficult is to replace the transmissin vacuum modulator on a 1994 Explorer? Is it difficult to reach? Do I have to remove a piece of exhaust? Will fluid come out when I pull the regulator? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The modulator is on the passenger side of the transmission, one bolt and it should come out, not to worry about any fluid coming out..
be carefull the control rod may fall out, make sure it is in before installing new modulator Valve.
I've heard from what I believe to be reliable sources that there is an access panel underneath the front passenger seat that's supposed to make it pretty easy to get at the modulator. Never had to do it myself, though, so can't say for sure.
Thanks guys. It should be easy but, looking under, it seems that exhaust baffles are in the way and looks difficult getting the hands through. I'll check under the seat for access.
