Banks power flow??

I just recently bought my F-250 SD crew short box and was wondering if it was worth the money buying the Banks power flow system with the computer chip and tuner, magna flow exhaust and headers. I want to upgrade the hp/tq but also conserver on MPG lol. If anyone has any ideas or already have done something of this sort let me know. Tks in advance :-)~

Wink what year?

first off welcome to fte.and the cleanest family site of the net. please take some time and read the sites guide lines so you under stand the rules on posting.

please give us some insite on your truck and make a signature up . there are many threads here about a banks kit on the v10's many have done it and like them. if your truck is a 05 like mine a few others we are out of luck for now as banks is still working on the kits. for the 05 maybe late this year or early next i have been told.
good luck with your ride and many bseg's.

Sorry I guess I should have posted more about the truck. Its a 2003 F-250 SD crew cab ext cab. It has about 42,000 miles on it. I have stock tires/sizes on it. One thing I have noticed is that when floored it seems to make an odd sound as if the engine is spinning uncontrolalby heheh. Maybe its just the way its supposed to sound but it did catch my attention and does seem to be a little slugish when floored as well.

Wink sounds

the v10 has sounds all it's own due to the 72 deg. fireing order . you have a older 2 valve motor style and i think 310 hp. banks has some nice kits for it. do a search of the site for banks . or go back in time in the v10 area you will find the wanted information or wait and one of the v10 men who have done it will chime in. good luck with your ride you will grow to love it. maybe trade it in for a 06 3 valve v10 with much getup and go.

I have the Banks powerpack kit on my 03' V10. I did swap out the banks muffler and went with a FM70. The Banks muffler sounds like crap on a V10. I did get some nice HP gains in the upper RPM range. When she goes over 2800 or so. WOW and get her past 3500 and hold on to something. I chose to go with a superchips microtuner instead of the banks chip. The banks chip is fairly mild and does nothing for the tranny. I think the banks kit is top notch. Very well manufactured with awesome step my step instructions to install. Everything is included. Like extensions for 02 sensors and all required heat shields. As far a MPG gains, about 1-1.5 is mixed driving. Not a good reason to get the kit. My kits cost $1500. Can buy alot of gas for $1500.

The V10 does have a sound all of it's own. I have a love hate relationship with it. When you drive it like a granny mobile it has a great sound. Deep and great tone to it. Not like a V8 but better. When you push it hard, 2200+ rpm. Well thes just say it is AWESOME. VERY powerful sounding. Like nothing else on the road. It is hard to explain. The best comparison is a Nextel Cup car at 9500 rpm. About that tone to it. The only funky love it hate it range is 1800-2150 rpm. It does not sound exactly like a ricer but it is very similar. But very different all at the same time.

I have been running V10s for five years and it takes a little time to get use to the sound of them. I am also running a Banks Cat back system and am happy with it, it adds a lot of pulling power without a lot of increased cab noise.
I did start the truck with just the cat and it was the strangest sounding thing I have ever heard if sounds a lot better with a muffler.

Denny

You will learn to love the sound

Well since no one has responded in awhile. I did some digging and found the axle code on the door jam. Under axle it only has the number 31 under it. Now im not for sure what that means and I cant find a guide to tell me what it is either so does anyone hear know how to determine what that means as in gear ratio???

Fred, I got all that info from the super duty forum. It is under the FAQ's section. It is all about decifering your VIN. It would be nice to have all that info in the V10 forum too.
