Can I run Propane with a roots style blower.
Like a dual Emco 425 setup.
Also would running the propane through a heat exchange between the evaporater and mixers just above the mixer cool the air flow any?
I know that the propane gets very cold as it turns to vapor.
Thanks

I don't know anything about direct propane injection and very little about propane in general for that matter. Can you point to a good resource?
Thanks.
I'm pretty interested in this concept too, we call propane lpg in australia, liquefied petroleum gas, and it's a really common fuel around perth where i live, almost all servo's have it. I plan eventually to have an F250 ex ambo running a supercharged 5.8 on LPG, but i'm having a lot of trouble finding any info on computers, conversions kits and necessary changes to heads/inlet manifolds etc.
BTW weird thing, food for thought, you call petrol gasoline and shorten it to gas, we call LPG gas because it is a gas. confusing.
Now I may not be an expert.... but when you inject liquid propane how small of a "squirt" is it going to be....The way I understood it 1cc of liquid propane will become 250cc of vapor...so I would seem to me that I would take a super tiny injector to make that work... but I don't know, just the musings of a lurker....
Also 2 425 mixers would flow ALOT.....I belive 1 mixer is actually rated at 450-500 cfm. I have spoken to an expert on several occasions, and thats what I remember him saying. In fact, he related to me a story of a rancher that had come into his shop with 2 425s on a warmed over 454. and It wouldn't run like they thought it might and got crap for milage. So he blocked off one mixer and gained 30 RWHP and all the milage back....For what it's worth.....
I have done alot of reserch into this area because I am doing the same thing....a turbo on a six cylinder Ch*v w/ propane.....if for some strange reason you want to know more about that or what I know about conversions (I have 3 converted vehicles) let me know....
Phule
Yes, you don't want to overdo the propane, especially if you're running gasoline as well.
I've had good luck with the 8 to 1 rule... 8 injectors of gasoline, one injector of propane. I've actually used a fuel injector, but you have to have a propane regulator before it, limiting pressure to 35-45psi or so. I've never used a factory ECM (GM or Ford) with propane, only aftermarket units like Electromotive Tec II or Haltech E6 type of things, which have extra general purpose outputs that you can use to trigger something like this.
I am wanting to run straight propane.
The reason for 2 425 mixers is because of the blower.
The motor is a 396cid FE. With Edellbrock heads and TRW forged pistons.
Dynamic compression should be around 12.5:1.
A friend has a 60's indy style racer in his shop that has a corvair 6 in it with a custom turo and runs on propane. that thing is supposedly 300hp give or take. i think he just drafted through the carb? propane can run very high compression and can make some serious hp, so the 12.5 to 1 should work awesome. I have an email adress for a fellow that knows his stuff but i'll tell him to mail you, as i'm sure he doesn't want a bunch of spam. if you want some more info pm me with your email adress
